This project will inventory and map all natural resources within the city limits of Charlottesville. The goal is to gather and synthesize baseline qualitative and quantitative data that can serve as a launching point for place-based knowledge-building. Ultimately this resource would aid in decision-making around land use decisions while also enriching the day-to-day lives of Charlottesville citizens and visitors. We will create a public interactive map for exploring and adding to the wondrous detail of local natural history. Conserving biodiversity begins with education, and unveiling the unique story that a landscape holds. Every place is different, and every landscape unique. What interesting stories and imagery adorn the pages of your natural history, Charlottesville?
