Supporting a rich food web with a diverse Native Plant Community is the best way to restore the site and provide refuge and food for the Salamanders and other amphibians that are being conserved.

This is a plant-community-approach to species selection and specific site conditions were used to choose locally adapted native species that occur together in the wild, and that occur on this specific high-acid, low-nutrient geologic formation. Elevation, aspect, soil drainage regime and quality of light were also taken into consideration. Due to these factors, the installation would maximize sustainability, reduce maintenance to simple edge-management, and maximize the land’s ability to support faunal diversity.
