Joanna Currey
Stewardship Field Technician
I AM… observant, good-humored, interrogating, interested; a writer, musician, gardener, and traveler
I BELIEVE… that humans are part of living systems more intricate, storied, and nuanced than we comprehend. No organism or species is an island, and we become better versions of ourselves when we try to live in community and collaboration with all of our neighbors.
BIO Joanna joined the CUH team as a Stewardship Field Technician in 2023. She enjoys learning about both the ecological and historical significance of plants, and uses her communication, relationship-building, and creative problem-solving skills to contribute to the Stewardship team.
Joanna received her B.A. in English from the University of Virginia, and her M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Vanderbilt University. She has worked in both teaching and administrative roles in university settings, and as an urban farmer. She is currently finishing up the Certificate in Sustainable Urban Agriculture program at Virginia State University.
